My work is based around worlds and mythologies I have created. I have always been inspired by fantasy, and as a child it was only natural for me to begin to create my own stories. Over the years it has grown into a world that is monumental in scope, and that world is the driving force behind the majority of my work. Many of my images are based around legends or specific characters within this world, and the world as a whole is based around my personal philosophies, as is the style work in. I am fascinated with the strange, the macabre, and the beautiful; the universe by nature is as cruel as it is magnificent. People often say my work has a disturbing undertone, even when the image itself is innocuous and this is intentional on my part. I work in style I call surreal fantasy, attempting to blend psychological undertones with aesthetics. My work is primarily digital painting, though I also do some acrylic work and will be using pencils this semester as well.

Hi everyone :D
At the beginning of the summer I wrote my first full workshop for ImagineFx magazine, a publication I’ve been contributing to for about a year now. This was the finished painting [digital]:

Digital Art Masters Vol. 3 just came out; I’m one of 60 artists included. Right now I’m doing some work for Fantasy Flight Games, but I can’t show it.
Other than that I’ve been chipping away at my pile of personal works in progress and doing a lot of studies. Won't clutter the blog but you can look around here.
See you all soon :D

Well holy crud-muffins, batman.
I REALLY enjoy your work! You have some really great illustrations that are perfect for so many genres out there... sci-fi/fantasy novel book covers... card game illustrations... character models for various mediums. NICE!
When you call these digital paintings, what is your method? Do you scan in a hand drawing and then complete it in photoshop? If so, your photoshop game is pretty fantastic. I'm so curious!!! :-D

Aw, thanks. :D
Digital paintings are just that, paintings made digitally ("painted" or drawn free-hand with either a mouse or a graphic tablet in a program like Photoshop.) I use a Wacom Intuos 2 and work in Corel Painter and Photoshop and work pretty much the same way I paint with acrylics. Sometimes I scan a sketch in first, but it's never more than a doodle and I don't sick to it too faithfully. I don't like dealing with lineart.
Hope that answered some of your curiosity...if not I'm sure Anita will be asking questions in the weeks to come, heh. :)
I've been seriously considering getting a tablet- I think you may have just provided the final twist of the arm to bite the bullet and get one :)
Yaaaaay for new digital toys! Yay, I say!
fantastic news!
Girlfriend, you are out of control. What a truly amazing talent. I think your statement is written well. I like how you say you're "fascinated with the strange, macabre, and beautiful" because your work examines exactly that. You definitely have a way of incorporating those three elements into one image. Your characters possess many demonic and inhuman qualities which can be more or less gruesome at times, but at the same time they have a flawless human form with intricate attire and flowing hair. I'm especially drawn to your use of light and color. I'm interested to know what myths and legends, outside of your own, are your personal favorites. Which ones were most influential to you? I’m not saying that they necessarily should be included in your statement, I‘m just curious. ;-)

Nadia: Thank you for your feedback! To be honest, there are no particular myths that inspire me. It's more a fascination with the concept of myths, and what they mean. So many themes in world mythology are constant across time and culture. It reveals a lot of human psychology, values, and fears.
